Notes
Under Gerhard's watchful eyes, two friends in the neighborhood joined forces with us during the spring of 1999 and planted identical Syrah clones and rootstocks on their properties. The total acreage for these vineyards is just below two.
2005 Syrah, Mt. George Vineyard $40
This is now our fifth vintage from these exquisite vineyards that surround the picturesque Mt. George, an inactive volcano situated northeast of downtown Napa. Gerhard’s diligent farming and extreme crop thinning has led to this beautiful wine. Our 2004 Syrah Mt. George Vineyard sold out just one month after it was released and although we miss it, we couldn’t wait to release this stunner – our 2005 Syrah Mt. George Vineyard is one of our favorites to date!! Only 325 cases of this phenomenal wine were produced.
Tasting Notes
A youthful and wild nose offers cherries, blueberries, cocoa powder, vanilla bean, cumin, and earthiness. A vibrant mouth is seamless from front to back, and features raspberry-cherry pie with soft yet plush tannins. Rich, beautiful and loaded, this is a thriller! (GR, 4/08)

Smooth, rich and harmonious, with supple layers of blackberry, wild berry and boysenberry that are deep and well-focused, ending with a long, persistent finish that keeps revealing subtle fruit nuances. Drink now through 2011. (February 2008).

Dark and intense, with firm mocha and espresso bean overtones to the ripe, beefy black cherry and blackberry flavors. Tightly focused, with hints of herb, tobacco leaf, sage and savory notes, with gritty tannins. Drink now through 2010. (December 31, 2005)
